Art by Deejman

Barnstormer Studios curates the artwork of several artists, including Bournemouth-based Deejman.

Most of Deejman’s paintings are quite large format abstract works in acrylic on canvas, although he also works in oils, watercolour, pen and ink, soft pastels and multi-media. His work has featured in various galleries and exhibitions in Bournemouth, Poole, Wimborne, New Milton, Sherborne and London. He has entered work into multiple art competitions, including the National Eisteddfod of Wales and the National Portrait Gallery annual portrait competition. He has sold work internationally, including at one point, to the author Leslie Thomas.

About Deejman

Deejman is an accomplished artist known for his unique abstract artwork, which harmoniously blends elements from the natural and spiritual worlds. Using acrylics on various surfaces, including board, canvas, and paper, he creates visually striking pieces that evoke a sense of wonder and introspection. His work is characterized by several distinctive features that set it apart in the contemporary art landscape.

1. Rich Textures and Layering
One of the hallmarks of Deejman’s artwork is his masterful use of texture. He often employs a layering technique, building up multiple coats of paint to create depth and complexity in his pieces. This approach not only adds a tactile quality to the artwork but also allows for intriguing light interactions, as different layers reflect and absorb light in unique ways. The interplay of textures invites viewers to explore the artwork more closely, revealing hidden details and nuances.

2. Vibrant Color Palettes
Deejman is known for his bold and vibrant colour choices, which play a crucial role in conveying the emotions and themes present in his work. His palette often consists of rich, saturated hues that evoke the essence of the natural world, from lush greens to deep blues and fiery reds. These colours are not just visually appealing; they are carefully chosen to reflect the moods and energies of the subjects he draws inspiration from, whether it’s the serenity of nature or the intensity of spiritual experiences.

3. Abstract Forms and Organic Shapes
The abstract nature of Deejman’s work allows him to explore forms and shapes that are reminiscent of organic elements found in nature. His paintings often feature swirling lines, fluid shapes, and dynamic compositions that suggest movement and growth. This fluidity creates a sense of connection to the natural world, inviting viewers to interpret the forms in their own way. The abstraction also leaves room for personal interpretation, encouraging a dialogue between the artwork and the observer.

4. Spiritual Themes and Symbolism
Drawing inspiration from the spirit world, Deejman’s artwork often incorporates symbolic elements that reflect themes of spirituality, transformation, and connection to the universe. This can manifest in the use of ethereal forms or patterns that evoke a sense of the mystical. The spiritual dimension of his work invites viewers to contemplate deeper meanings, exploring their own connections to the natural and spiritual realms.

5. Emotional Resonance
Deejman’s ability to infuse emotion into his abstract compositions is a defining aspect of his work. Each piece resonates with a particular feeling or experience, whether it’s tranquility, joy, or introspection. The use of colour, texture, and form all work together to create a mood that speaks to the viewer on a visceral level. This emotional resonance draws people into the artwork, fostering a personal connection that encourages reflection and contemplation.

6. Versatile Techniques
Working with acrylics allows Deejman to experiment with various techniques, such as pouring, glazing, and blending. This versatility enables him to achieve different effects and finishes, from smooth and polished surfaces to rough, impasto textures. The adaptability of acrylics aligns perfectly with his artistic vision, allowing for continuous exploration and innovation within his practice.

Conclusion
Deejman’s unique abstract artwork stands out for its rich textures, vibrant colours, and deep connections to both the natural and spirit worlds. His ability to blend these elements into emotionally resonant compositions makes his work not only visually striking but also deeply meaningful. By inviting viewers to engage with the themes of nature and spirituality, Deejman creates an immersive experience that transcends the traditional boundaries of abstract art, making his pieces both thought-provoking and visually captivating. Whether on board, canvas, or paper, his artwork continues to inspire and resonate with audiences, solidifying his place in the contemporary art scene.
